News for  22 JUNE 08...Our first major event is now history. The site is all cleaned up and we are beginning to plan for next year. We had over a hundred bikes even though the weather was treating. What the weatherman did not know is we had a priest and 3 chaplains, including our own Chappy praying for clear weather, and except for a light sprinkle in the very beginning not a drop fell, it turned out to be a perfect day, cloudy with a light breeze and somewhat cool. We had 3 bands playing during the day and just by luck they lined up perfect. Leading off was the 499 band a high energy rock group that got everyone moving. A short break and a little political stumping by Chris Gorman running for state congress and then LA Outlaws took over the stage. What a great band they played some old rock and roll tunes, just what a bunch of old bikers love to hear. I hope we can get them back next year. Finishing up was the Floyd Grigsby band. What a perfect ending to a long hard day. They played a mix of Blues, Jazz,  and R&B very mellow, I could have listened all night. The food was great, and the brotherhood among all was just phenomenal. We had Mike Long from Leesville, president of the Combat Vets Association and State PGR Captain bring a group with him. The Gray Ghost were officiating the games. Fear No Evil conducting the bike show. CMA helping out all over. Also we had numerous bikers independents and patches from our local area come out and support our cause. The highlight though was seeing our own guys pull up from all over the US. Harrah's Louisiana Downs was our key sponsor and it was with their help, and the help of their outstanding staff, even with such a short notice, made sure we got everything we needed to make our event a success. VoVMCLA would like to thank EVERYONE involved, many of them not so visible, like Brentwood Hospital for supplying all the food, Cocoa Cola for the drinks, The Ice House for the ice, Scott Truck and Tractor for buying T-shirts, Party Central for the games, Bossier Tent for the tents, and many, many more who donated money, material, and or services. Also all the volunteers and participants. The event raised about $4800.00 and without everyone's help we could not have done it.

..... We have a full calendar all the way through June and as hard as we try to get to EVERYONE'S event it is just too much happening at one time. So if we didn't make it to your event it does not mean we did not want too. Remember that not everyone has a great time at this time of year, so go out and do something special for a Veteran..We would like to wish our new Members a Big Welcome...We have allot of new patch holders and prospects. Thanks everyone for your hard work! We hope to get out there and support Veterans events even more this year than last. Thanks again everyone! We are happy to say there are more Full patch holders in La. Sheverport and the State as a whole is growing very fast due to everyone's hard work. Brothers keep getting out there and signing up more Brothers. Time is not always on our side at our age, right? The Chapter has been doing Parades for Local towns and also attending PGR rides. We are doing for families anything we can if they request our attendance. The Ca Nomads under Pres. Baron have a new site and link that will be posted up above, check it out..He has put allot of work in to the site as one other for years...This will be changing...Lets remember to support our Troops anyway we can Brothers!
